Isaiah 42:1-4
… He will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth…. Isaiah 42:4b, NIV
When an indigent widow lost the only landed property her husband left her to a moneybag in their town, she had no hope of recovering the property. But another man in the same town heard of her plight, took up her case, and prosecuted the man in question. The man pulled all of his weight behind the woman until she got her land back, and also assisted her in various ways.
The Innocent and less-privileged often find it difficult to get justice in societies where lawmakers and law enforcement agents are corrupt beyond measure. However, today’s passage reminds us of God’s promise to establish justice on earth. When we are denied justice by human courts, we should remember that God notices and will surely grant us justice at the end. God wants us to trust Him as a God of justice, and also be His agent as we fight for justice anywhere we find ourselves. If you are a legal practitioner and you are a child of God, then you are an agent put in place to ensure people get justice in their cases. This world will enjoy much peace if Christians fulfil their duties as Christ did. Christ gave hope and justice to people; you too can encourage the hopeless.
