Morning Devotion: HANNAH’S WOMB WAS CLOSED

Tuesday, November 29

1 Samuel 1:1-11

Outline
“But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the Lord had closed her womb.”
1 Samuel 1:5, NIV

Hannah was one of the few women in the Bible who experienced temporary barrenness. She could not give birth for some years. This brought temporary reproach to her, especially the unbearable provocation from her rival, Peninnah, who had children and took pleasure in tormenting Hannah over her barrenness. Her only succour was her husband; Elkanah who loved her and gave her double portion of things.

Some of the lessons we can learn from the life of Hannah are: (1) when we go through difficulty, we should not give up; it’s only for a defined period. (2) We should always put to mind that Jesus is the husband of the church of which we are part so we can ride on the wings of His unparallel love. The love of God is stronger than whatever difficulty we are going through. This love is a guarantee that we will not only sail through the difficult moment, but that we shall receive whatever we ask of Him. Are you going through a difficult situation at the moment? You can count on the love of Jesus and be sure that all shall be well.
