Isaiah 25:6-10a
Outline
“On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines.” Isaiah 25:6, NIVThe passage in view today is Isaiah’s song of praise on the establishment of God’s kingdom. It forms part of the what is called apocalypse of Isaiah (24:1-27:13) when the setting up of Christ’s kingdom was described; and the call to this kingdom was extended to all nations. Our deduction from this passage is two-pronged. One, there is no restriction of salvation to any particular race or nation – Jew, Greek, Barbarian, Scythian, bond or free are equally invited. The Church of the redeemed contains men and women of all “nations, and kindreds, and peoples, and tongues.” It is, therefore, expedient to avail yourself of this privilege as you go through the process of sanctification, having been justified by the death and resurrection of Christ.
Two, our Lord tells of a “Marriage Supper,” to which He will invite His friends (Matthew 22:2-12); and the venue of the “Marriage Supper of the Lamb,” according to John in Revelation 19:7-9, is heaven. At this feast, God will be the Host, and all men, women, priests and the laity, children and all nations will be His guests. This is an experience no one should miss. Cleanse your life to be part of the feast.
Wisdom: All are invited to the banquet, but only the few who accepted the invitation will be at the banquet.
Food for Thought: Choose wisely which banquet you want to attend.
Follow-up Action: Let us do everything humanly possible to qualify to attend the banquet.
Prayer: O lord, grant me the grace to be present at the banquet at the end of age
