First Baptist Church Protesting Against Herdsmen Killings (Photos)

Women and children of First Baptist Church Kosofe, Lagos, joined forces with their husbands and fathers to stage a peaceful protest against the incessant killings by herdsmen in Benue State and other parts of the country.

The protesters numbering over 300, displayed placards of different inscriptions to condemn the killings in the Middle Belt, the failure of the Federal Government to secure the release of kidnapped.

The peaceful protest is in support of a call by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to all churches in Nigeria, to storm the street on Sunday, April 29, 2018, to demand for an end to killings in Benue State and other parts of the country.
Under Shephard of First Baptist Church Kosofe (FBCK), Rev Dr Festus Olatunde told Bounce News that the protest is to seek an end to killings across the country.

Below are some photos;

“We can no longer stand the killings happening in the nation, life is sacred, and no one has the right to kill. All the killings going on in the North East, we are here gathered to declare the activities ungodly and condemnable. The killings and kidnapping must stop.

“We want the Federal Government to be alert to its responsibilities and secure the release of Leah Sharibu and other kidnapped child still in custody of their abductors.

“The killing and destruction going on in Benue State must stop. The recent killing of priests in the church is condemnable, and the only way the FG can show sincerity is to go after the perpetrator and arrest them and give justice, and until they do that, the church of God will not keep quiet.”

Since the start of 2018, there have been increased killings in Benue State and other parts of the Middle Belt.
