A statement by Nigerian Customs reveals import duties were not paid for the confiscated items.
The statement read
"The Nigeria Customs Service have continue to clampdown on unrepentant smugglers, as Operatives of the Federal Operations Unit gave a score card of its activities from 29th of August 3rd of October 2017.
"The seized items include: 11 used vehicles, 4,227 bags of foreign parboiled rice, frozen poultry products, vegetable oil, Indian Hemp, medicaments, used tyres, scrap metals, wet blue, electric cables, unprocessed wood, bales of used clothing and shoes respectively with a duty paid value (DPV) of Three Hundred and Fifty Six Million, Two Hundred and Five Thousand, Fifty Naira, Seventy Eight kobo (N 356,205,050.78) only."
