The troops of the Nigerian Army have killed three suicide bombers and two other members of the Boko Haram Sect in Borno State.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Friday that one of the suicide bombers, a female, was killed while attempting to penetrate a military location at Yamtake in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
He said that the female suicide bomber was gunned down by a vigilant sentry who spotted her.
According to him, the troops also killed four attackers comprising two suicude bombers and two other insurgents in another shootout.
However, the Acting Army Spokesman said that a soldier was killed in the second attack by the insurgents.
Usman said that the troops recovered two AK 47 rifles, three magazines, some ammunition and other items from the insurgents.
“Yesterday at about 9.45pm a suspected female suicide bomber attempted to enter the military location in Yamtake, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, but a vigilant sentry on duty gunned her down and she died instantly.
“The failed suicide bombing attack was followed up with futile probing attack by terrorists which was decisively dealt with by the troops.
“The troops killed all the four attackers including two suicide bombers and recovered two AK-47, three Magazines, 109 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), one torchlight, one Water bottle, three Magazine carrier, one Illuminator pyrotecnic and some quantity of drugs. Unfortunately, we lost a soldier in the process.” The statement read
