Psalm 46

God is within her, she will not fall... Psalm 46:5, NIV
The world today is in a big mess of war and financial crisis. In this troubled time, the most powerful nations depend on their military and economic power to bail them out.
Even at that, all historically great empires have come and gone. Military power, earthly riches, beauty, youthfulness and physical strength all of these are but temporal, earthly and cannot provide a lasting security.
The psalmist says that his strength, refuge, and help were in God.
When all around him seemed to have fallen apart and creation shaken, his assurance and comfort was that God’s sovereign rule over all creatures will give order and provide security.
God doesn’t just give us refuge, strength and help. He Himself is our refuge, strength and help. God as our ever-present help is one who can always be found whenever we need help in time of trouble. Why are we afraid when Immanuel, God with us, dwells among us?
Nothing! Not even wars and the worst economic crisis in history can shake our foundations.
Paul in Romans 8:35-39 could not think of anything out of everything that is found in the universe that would be able to separate us from the love of Christ, Because God Himself is with us in this sinful world, we are not to be shaken and fearful of anything not even examination or similar challenges.
