The BringBackOurGirls coalition, has lauded the military for the rescue of a Chibok schoolgirl, identified as Maryam Ali.
The group said Ali, a school prefect was abducted with her twin sister alongside over 200 other girls in 2014 by Boko Haram.
She was found amongst a group of fellow escapees on Saturday, by troops of 121 Battalion, Nigerian Army, deployed in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.
A statement by the BBOG spokesman, Sesugh Akume, said preliminary investigations indicated that Ali was number 198 on the BBOG list of the missing girls.
It said, “Ali was abducted along with her twin, Halima Ali (Number 197), who is yet to return. We shall update the public with more details as necessary.
“We applaud the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari, the military and other security formations working day and night to rout the terrorists and rescue all Nigerians in captivity.”
The coalition mourned the death of the Commanding Officer of the 272 Task Force Tank Battalion, Lt. Col. Muhammed Abu Ali, and four other members of his team, who were killed in an ambush at Mallam Fatori, Borno State by Boko Haram insurgents.
