Ephesians 1:17-23
Outline
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.
Ephesians 1:22, KJV
Apostle Paul passionately prayer for the Ephesian Church in our Passage today. This prayer is in every way superior to the kind of the prayers we hear in Churches these days which centres on what to eat, drink and wear, but Paul’s prayer was on the need of the Ephesian Church to grow in the self revelation of the person of Jesus. This prayer point is important even today because it is critical to the destiny of the Church in the kingdom of God. A church or a Christian who is ignorant about who Christ is will be weak and can be defeated by the enemy.
Jesus is not only the self-revelation of God, the Father, but He also possesses all the power of God. God was satisfied to have all His power resident in Him. Colossians 1:19 says, “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell”. Colossians 2:9 also says, “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” In heaven, Jesus is called the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 1:8). This then implies that Jesus is all you need to have all your needs met. Following and believing Him is the key to unlock your destiny both here and hereafter.
