Morning Devotion: I KNOW THEIR SUFFERING

Monday, October 24

Exodus 3:7-10

Outline
Then the LORD said, l have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt ... I know their sufferings. Exodus 3:7, ESV
God knew that the Hebrews would suffer in Egypt. He even foretold it in a discussion with Abraham many years before then (Genesis 15:13). As God predicted, the people served as strangers in Egypt and were afflicted by the Egyptians. They finally cried out to notify God of their tiredness over their predicament and expressed their hope on His ability to deliver them. In verses 8-10, God, moved by their cries, waded into the situation and announced His plans to: (1) deliver them from the Egyptian taskmasters [V. 8a]; and (2) relocate them into the Promised Land.

This is a proof of the Omniscience of God. He is the All-Knowing God. What you are passing through is not hidden from Him. Nevertheless, He would not act on it until you notify Him of your dissatisfaction with it and ask for His help. His silence now is not because He is coward or wicked; He is too great to be intimidated by your suffering and too merciful to forget you in your suffering. You only need to go to Him in prayers. He will deliver you and take you to your haven of peace. There is an end to your suffering.
