Morning Devotion: ANGELS IN GOD'S PLAN

Monday, October 3

Hebrews 2:5-8b

Outline
In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Hebrews 2:8b, NIV
Whether we are aware of it or not, there are angels that God has assigned to attend to His children. Today’s passage gives us a picture of what God had in mind when He created angels and also emphasises that Jesus Christ is superior to the angels. From the beginning of creation, God gave man dominion over all that He created and from this passage, we can see that angels are not excluded.
Angels have a place that is higher than that of human beings due to their special creation, but they would become subject to anyone who is in Christ. No one can enjoy dominion over them until he or she finds his or her place in Christ.

Angels exist and God’s plan is that they should be subject to us and not vice-versa. Angels are still involved in ministering to believers (as it was the original plan), but we will not be able to activate their ministry fully if we are not in Christ Jesus. Angels are to serve us as they served Christ (Matthew 4:11, Luke 22:43), but we are not to invoke them as we invoke the name of Christ in prayer.
