John 1:15-18
The mystery of God coming in the flesh and dwelling amongst us cannot be grasped by the natural mind. It is a profound truth that rings through all ages. John’s witness of the Lord Jesus Christ in today’s passage includes the truth that though Jesus came after him (John), He (Jesus) was actually before him. Jesus was God who came in the flesh. And it was the fullness of this God that we receive when we become born again.
As part of that package of salvation, we also receive, measure after measure, the grace to do the naturally impossible things and to live the God-kind of life. To have “grace upon grace” means there is always available, a new flow of God’s grace at every moment for anyone who will tap into it. Grace is God’s favour and kindness bestowed on those who do not deserve it and cannot earn it. More grace is available for you today in God’s Word. Receive this grace by faith and go out to live above sin and pleasures of this world.
