Luke 4:22-30
Outline
“I tell you the truth,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown.” Luke 4:24, NIV
Have you ever wondered why many Jews are not born-again Christians? Have you even wondered why they bluntly rejected the ministry of Jesus, when He was physically present with them? Have you also wondered why your people too do not really believe in your ministry? Jesus gave the answer: prophets (ministers) are not usually. honoured, accepted or welcomed in their own countries. Familiarity is the bane of ministry in one’s backyard. It takes some dimensions of peculiar grace for people to totally receive the ministry of a person they are very familiar with.
You need to understand that though your ministry might not be received by your people, you must still pass the message across to them. While you continue elsewhere doing God’s work, God, in the process of time, has a way of making the seeds that you sow hold sway in their hearts. In all, you must not be discouraged from fulfilling your ministry. So, learn to take your ministry beyond your backyard.
