Mikel, Musa, Ighalo, Moses arrive today, as Super Eagles’ camp opens in Uyo

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign for a ticket to Russia 2018 World Cup away to Zambia in October.
Super Eagles’ Captain, John Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses and other invited players for the 2018 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Tanzania are expected to arrive in Uyo today to commence training for the match.
The camp will be the Super Eagles’ first under new manager, Gernot Rohr.

According to the team’s spokesman, Toyin Ibitoye, Rohr, who arrived in Nigeria last night, will meet with the players today before getting down to business.
Ibitoye told The Guardian that the players are ready to stake their claims for spots in the team that would meet Zambia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier, using this weekend’s match against Tanzania as the springboard.
“All the invited players are expected to arrive in camp to resume training for the game. Eagles new helmsman, who arrived the country last night, will be in the position to give information on when the players will resume training. Every thing is okay for the encounter,” he said.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday revealed that its
Deputy General Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, arrived in the Akwa Ibom State capital on Friday as a one-man advance party, ahead of the team’s assistant coaches and backroom staff due in town on Monday morning.

Home-based players, including Emmanuel Daniel, Ikechukwu Ezenwa (goalkeepers) and Jamiu Alimi (defender) are also expected in Uyo today alongside a number of overseas-based professionals, including defender William Troost-Ekong and forward Odion Ighalo.
The team will be camped at the Le Meridien Hotel.
Both the Super Eagles and Taifa Stars have little other than pride to battle for in Saturday’s game, as Egypt’s Pharaohs have already picked the lone ticket from the group to Gabon. But the Eagles and their new Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr will use the match as a rehearsal for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Series Matchday 1 clash with Zambia in Ndola on October 8.
