The Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria on Saturday, 27th of August, 2016 at the National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja conferred the award of Professional Fellowship Doctorate (Pfd) on the Nollywood veteran actor Kenneth Okonkwo.
The selection committee of the Institute, which carried a detailed appraisal of Kenneth Okonkwo stated that "this is coming as special recognition to appreciate your contribution and commitment to Economic growth and development of this country Nigeria ... Your practical commitment and approach to Economic activities is a source of motivation which is worthy of recognition. Your attribute outstand you as an achiever of remarkable intelligence, dignity and commitment to the service of humanity".
It will be recalled that Dr Kenneth Okonkwo is the first actor that acted the first movie Living in Bondage that started Nollywood which is today employing millions of people and contributing about 1.3% to the nation's GDP.
He is a renowned Legal Practitioner, a prolific writer, motivational speaker, public affairs analyst and a philanthropist. He recently led other actors to protest against trafficking in persons and paid a visit to the internally displaced persons home in Abuja
He has a Bsc in Business Administration, University of Nigeria, LLB, University of Lagos, BL, Nigerian Law School, Masters in International Law and Diplomacy, University of Lagos prior to this award.
