Senator Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto) on Monday called on the 2016 prospective pilgrims to Saudi Arabia to seek divine intervention for the country to overcome its current economic and security challenges.
Wamakko told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that Nigerians expected fervent prayers from the pilgrims for God to turn around the nation’s socioeconomic activities for good of the country.
He said that with God, all things were possible hence the need for Nigerians, irrespective of religious and political differences, to pray for God-chosen leaders to ensure good democratic governance.
“We have all that it takes to maintain our status as giant of Africa and this would only be possible if Nigerians turned to God to guide our leaders,” he said.
He also called on Nigerians to disregard political differences and support government at all levels to implement policies and programnes that would better the lot of Nigerians.
Wamakko, a two-term former governor of the state, also commended the political commitment of President Buhari for the ongoing fight against insurgency in the North East .
He said this was made possible by the professional conduct demonstrated by the military in dealing with the insurgents.
He called on Nigerians to support the fight against criminal activities by volunteering intelligence information that could aid the security agencies to provide peaceful environment for the nation’s political activities to thrive.
