The Spaniard was made an outcast under the manager at Chelsea, but he has been told he still has a future at Manchester United, albeit in a restricted role
Jose Mourinho has told Juan Mata he can stay at Manchester United, but warned him he will only play a third of the side's matches, The Mirror reports. The Spanish midfielder joined the Red Devils in January 2014, having been ousted from the Chelsea first-team under the Portuguese manager.
Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford this summer prompted speculation around Mata's future at United, but the 28-year-old is determined to stay and fight for his place in the team, having been a success under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
The coach has reportedly told Mata he can remain at the club, but his role will be restricted, as he will be used in just a third of the team's matches.
