Kenyan students burning schools demanding longer holidays
A wave of unrest has hit several schools in Kenya leading to over 100 schools being torched.
Since the beginning of the year, Kenya has witnessed a number of cases of arson and other forms of student’s unrest. Fire incidents have occurred in 48 schools and 20 counties in the country.
Some of the reported causes of unrest in schools this year include; lack of coherent and focused structures for engagement with students, Disharmony between principals, their deputies and teachers, low levels of commitment and responsibility to duties among school managers, drug and substance abuse among some students.
