Kelechi Iheanacho says it would be a “dream come true” to play for Manchester City against Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League, ESPN FC reports.
The striker scored twice in the 4-0 victory over Stoke City on Saturday as Manchester City strengthened their grip on a Champions League place for next season.
Now the 19-year-old, who has 11 goals in 29 appearances in his debut season with the first team, is hoping he gets a chance to make an impact in the first leg against Madrid on Tuesday.
“Ronaldo and Messi are the greatest players on the planet so I think playing against them is a big thing to anyone so it would be a big thing to me if I play against him on Tuesday.Iheanacho told reporters, “I think I should dream about that because it’s a great team to dream about. It would be a dream come true to play against them. I think I’ll be happy when I play against them.
“We really need to win here because at their home it’s not going to be an easy game so we need to show character and work hard and make sure we get a win.
“It’s a great achievement for the club and for everybody being in the last four of the tournament. We really need to go forward and get to the final. It would be a dream when we get to the final so we’re really hoping for that.”
Iheanacho started his first Premier League game in 10 weeks in the win over Stoke, which moved City back up to third in the table and five points clear of Manchester United in the battle for a top-four finish.
He is unlikely to start against Zinedine Zidane’s side, despite his two goals, with manager Manuel Pellegrini having a virtually fully fit squad to choose from.
The City boss was also able to give some rest to key players against Stoke but Iheanacho insists he will be ready if he gets the call.
“It was a great performance for everybody, everybody really did well, so it depends on who the manager picks – everyone is fit to face Madrid,” he added.
